Sigourney Weaver - Weaver Makes Bid For Space Travel

Actress SIGOURNEY WEAVER is begging Virgin tycoon SIR RICHARD BRANSON to let her be next celebrity to venture into space.

The Aliens star has been inspired by Branson's adventurous pursuits, including hot-air balloon flights and space travel under his Virgin banner.

And she admits that a rumour she was planning space travel actually inspired her to try it out for real.

Weaver says, "I'd love to go (to space). Sure, if I had the opportunity. I read somewhere that I was going... I apparently was on the passenger list. I was apparently on the invitation (from Branson)."

But the actress has a back-up plan if she never receives the alleged call from the Virgin boss. She muses, "I'm building my own (spaceship) in my backyard."

British entrepreneur Branson signed a $28 million (GBP14million) agreement in 2004 to have five Virgin Galactic 'spaceliners' built in the U.S. A trip on the first privately developed carrier is estimated to cost $200,000 (GBP100,000)

Warren G - Warren G Denies Drugs Were His

LATEST: Rapper WARREN G has protested his innocence over his weekend drug possession arrest, insisting he had nothing to do with the marijuana found in the car he was travelling in.

The Regulate hitmaker - real name Warren Griffin III - and his friend Ryan Butler were pulled over by cops in Hollywood in the early hours of Sunday (09Jun08) after they ran a red light. Police found a large stash of the drug and arrested both men for possession and intent to sell.

The pair has now been released on $20,000 (GBP10,000) bail - but Warren G claims he is not the guilty party.

His representative tells website TMZ.com, "They were in the Hollywood area for Kanye (West)'s party. He was a passenger asleep in the front seat when the car was pulled over.

"Whatever was found wasn't his, it was in the car."

A speedy thrash metal band with decease metal overtones, Light This City ar chiefly notable for beingness peerless of the only bands in their chosen trend with a female lead singer, the dynamic and imposingly leather-lunged Laura Nichol. Formed in San Francisco in 2002 patch several members were noneffervescent in high shoal, the original card of Light This City consisted of Nichol on vocals, guitarists Tyler Gamlen and Steven Shirley, bassist Mike Dias, and drummer Ben Murray. This lineup recorded Light This City's debut, The Hero Cycle, only by the time the record album was released on the Reflections of Ruins mark in the fall of 2003, Gamlen and Shirley had been replaced by Brian Forbes and Steve Hoffman. That lineup of the band signed to the well-thought-of metal indie Prosthetic Records for their second album, 2005's Remains of the Gods. Further lineup changes followed afterwards that waiver, with Dias replaced by Jon Frost and new rhythm guitar player Ryan Hansen taking over for Hoffman. Light This City's third album, Cladding the Thousand, was released in the fall of 2006.

Bulletproof, Dark Times - Desperate Measures

Herald rating: * * * *Label: Uprising/CyanideVerdict: Music that makes you bulletproof and want to save the worldBrrr, it's cold outside. The world is a dark place. But never fear, Auckland drum 'n' bass missionary Bulletproof is dead set on saving us. He's the d 'n' b Marvin Gaye who's come to save the children. With a berserk mix of brutal beats, pummelling ebbs and flows, and smouldering soundscapes, his second album is a call to arms. And along the way you can dance your arse off, which is one way to warm up in these dark times. In contrast to 2007 debut Shake The Foundations, which was a collection of tracks gathered over six or so years, Dark Times - Desperate Measures is a more focused and cohesive album. The two title tracks - Desperate Measures and Dark Times (with a fiery Tiki Taane guest spot) - erupt in a flail of beats, oscillating frequencies, and verbal sparring. There's the nicely mangled Wreckage, which will separate your upper body from your legs if you're not careful, while the lighter flow of Line Of Sight and the darker dubstep moments of Syria and Repeat Offender mean the album is a beautifully balanced beast.

There's nothing particularly revolutionary about Bulletproof's musical approach but it's solid, propulsive and emotive. And compared to Australian drum 'n' bass outfit Pendulum's latest album, it's like a brick wall rather than a fancy, flimsy trellis.

James Gandolfini - Gandolfini To Star In Big Screen Sitcom

Actor JAMES GANDOLFINI is to star in the big screen version of BBC sitcom THE THICK OF IT.

The Sopranos tough guy has signed on to play the lead role in the film, which has been renamed In The Loop.

The satirical British TV show originally starred disgraced actor Chris Langham, who was jailed last year (07) on child porn charges.

In The Loop will focus on the inner workings of the U.S. and U.K. governments and will be filmed in both Britain and Washington, D.C.

A BBC source tells British newspaper The Sun, "We can't believe we've got James - it's his first major role since The Sopranos.

"But Chris Langham will not appear in the film, it would be too controversial."
